Privacy notice
Draft placeholder. This text is a summary of the draft and has not had legal review. The published version will replace it.
This notice explains what personal data KomboKlipper's licensing service collects, why, and your rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The short version
- Your video never leaves your PC. Matches, round clips, reels, screenshots and fight details stay on your computer. KomboKlipper does not upload them and has no access to them.
- Free users who don't sign in send nothing about themselves, except the ordinary request an update check makes.
- If you sign in to get Pro, the licensing service stores a small account record so it can tell the app which plan you have.
Who is responsible
UK AI Group Ltd (company number [NUMBER], registered office [ADDRESS]) is the data controller for the licensing service. Contact: contact@komboklipper.com. Patreon is a separate controller for your Patreon account and payments; see Patreon's own privacy policy.
What the licensing service stores
| Data | What it is |
|---|---|
| Patreon user id | The id Patreon gives your account, used to match you to your membership. |
| Display name | Your Patreon name, shown in the app so you know which account is signed in. |
| Membership state | Whether you are an active patron, which tier, and when your paid period ends. |
| Device id hash | A one-way hash made from your Windows machine id. It is not your hardware serial and can't be turned back into the machine id. |
| Device label | Your Windows computer name, so you can tell your PCs apart when removing one. |
| App version | The KomboKlipper version that signed in or checked in. |
| Timestamps | When you signed in, when each device was first and last seen, and when licences were issued, expire or are revoked. |
Email address. The service does not ask Patreon for your email. If you contact support and your account needs to be found, a hashed, one-way copy of your email address may be stored for that lookup.
Patreon access token. To confirm your membership later, the service keeps the access token Patreon gives it, encrypted at rest. The app only asks Patreon for permission to read your identity and memberships. It cannot post, message or change anything on your Patreon account.
Admin audit log. When the owner looks up or changes an account, for example to remove a device or grant access, the action is recorded with a time.
Technical logs. The hosting provider and the service keep short-lived request logs, such as IP address and time. IP address is used to limit abuse, such as too many sign-in attempts.
What it does not collect
- No video, screenshots, thumbnails, clips, reels, music or project files.
- No match results, characters, opponents or fight details.
- No list of your files or installed programs.
- Nothing from the game itself. The app never touches the game process.
- No advertising or analytics trackers.
Optional features you turn on yourself, like looking up your matches on wavu.wiki, make requests from your PC straight to that website. They don't pass through the licensing service.
Why, and the lawful basis
- Contract: signing you in, checking your membership, issuing and refreshing your licence, and enforcing the 2-device limit.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the service secure with rate limits, abuse prevention, the audit log, and fraud and licence-sharing prevention, weighed against your rights with the data kept minimal. Also finding your account when you contact support.
- Legal obligation: records that must be kept by law, such as tax and accounts. Payment records are held by Patreon, not by the licensing service.
Your data is not used for marketing and is not sold.
Update checks
About once a day, the app downloads a small signed file from the KomboKlipper website to see if a new version is out. This is an ordinary web request, so the website host sees your IP address and the app version, the same as any website visit. It is not linked to an account.
How long it is kept
- Account and entitlement data: for as long as you have a KomboKlipper account.
- Device records: while the device is registered. [OWNER: decide how long removed devices are kept, e.g. 90 days.]
- If you ask for your account to be deleted, the account's rows are deleted within 30 days.
- Webhook records and audit log entries: [OWNER: decide, e.g. 12 months].
- Request logs: [HOST'S DEFAULT RETENTION, e.g. up to 30 days].
Who else handles your data
| Who | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Patreon | Sign-in and membership data. Separate controller. | See Patreon's privacy policy |
| Vercel | Runs the licensing service and the website. | [CONFIRM REGION] |
| [Database host] | Stores the account records above. | [CONFIRM REGION] |
| [Email provider, if any] | Support email. | [CONFIRM] |
Where a provider is outside the UK, a UK-approved transfer mechanism is relied on, such as the UK adequacy regulations or the UK addendum to standard contractual clauses. [OWNER: confirm for each provider.]
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, for it to be corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to some uses (for example anything based on legitimate interests), or for your data in a portable format. Email contact@komboklipper.com; replies come within one month. You may need to give your Patreon name so your account can be found.
If you're unhappy, please say so first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
KomboKlipper is not aimed at under-13s, and Patreon's own rules set their minimum ages. If you think a child has signed up, get in touch.
Changes
If what is collected changes, this notice and its date will be updated, and you'll be told in the app or on the Patreon page if the change matters.
